'Monuments to Departed Worlds' (2017)

Metallurgical Fire This album should have been far better known upon release. It’s progressive, technical, and very heavy. The guitar work and drumming are both outstanding, with the drums sounding superior to a lot of technical or progressive death. There are moments where I can compare Anakim to Morbid Angel, Death, even Irreversible Mechanism. If you like any style of death metal, from the most old school to the most progressive, you should like this. Favorite track: Wraith.
SkunkBeatManiac

SkunkBeatManiac A massive Melodic Groove Death Metal album by an insanely talented Quintet. They uniquely combines old-school DM guitars, deep-growl vocals, crunchy steel-string bass and the over the top HM guitar solos to create songs that are brutal, melodic, and technical at the same time. Favorite track: Xenognosis.

A true testament that old school meets new is what keeps death metal alive Favorite track: Diluvian Wrath.

about

Review by DEAD RHETORIC:

What makes Anakim stand out in their ability to craft death metal that is simultaneously as brutal as the next band yet the progressive melodies underneath it keep it from sounding like the usual offering. Guttural vocals sit comfortably among the brutal side of the table, as does some of the razor-sharp riffing that accompanies it. But the progressive leads and melodies (see “Xenognosis”) allow them to stretch songs into the 6-7 minute range without fear of repetition. This is the band’s biggest strength and worth checking out on that rational alone.

Review by ASPHYX:

ANAKIM published a taste test of the progressive highest quality death metal. If you listen to it carefully I will realize that you are the one with this band – one body, one mind. This music is complicated, ambitious and complex, however it has some kind of a restlessness which is very magnetic. The mood of this album is very cold but very magnetic. It feels like it has some kind of magical formulation inside. I would suggest listening to it with an open and clear mind. Than you can feel the cold technical beauty. They don´t forget melodies. And now, let me go please, more than write a words I would prefer listening to this album. Intelligent technical death metal which is played with a nobleness. Wow!

about

Anakim UK

Anakim's music has elements from many genres. With definite influences from death and black metal, there is also a progressive element to their music. It's dark, melodic and heavy, with contrasting sections of a more mellow nature. Striving to push boundaries with their music, Anakim forever seek unity between brutality and melody, finding balance between chaos and order. ... more
